It turns out that Insys Therapeutics, a pharmaceutical company that makes incredible profit from a drug that has caused dozens of cases of overdose, known as fentanyl, has recently donated half a million dollars to a campaign against marijuana legalization in Arizona.

So, the creator of the pharmaceutical drug called Subsys, which is actually a sublingual spray based on fentanyl, says that marijuana is bad because kids can get in touch with it and feel the negative effects.

But, what’s the main reason that the creator of this very addictive drug that often causes deaths in users is trying to prevent marijuana legalization? Obviously, they don’t want to share this market with others.

According to JP Holoyak, head of the committee supporting Prop 205, a proposed bill that should make marijuana legal in Arizona, Insys Therapeutics are simply trying to popularize their product which is very addictive, causes more side effects and creates other health risks.

A scientific study conducted not while ago focused on 17 states that have already legalized medical marijuana, confirmed that the interest in prescription pharmaceutical drugs used in the same situations when medical marijuana is used has significantly dropped since medical cannabis was legalized. People stopped using opioid painkillers and drugs used for seizure, depression, anxiety and nausea so frequently.

At the same time, researchers have found that in these states, the number of sold prescription drugs was the same in cases where medical marijuana couldn’t be used. It is obvious that the pharmaceutical companies are afraid of a remedy that people can grow in their own yards and they are doing their best to stop the process of legalization.

The Columbus Dispatch has confirmed that about 35% of 3.050 annual deaths in Ohio triggered by lethal drug use were associated with fentanyl. Let’s not forget that this is the same drug that Prince used before he died.

Another thing that is worth mentioning is that a scientific study revealed three months ago in the popular Journal of Pain, confirmed that medical marijuana soothes neuropathic pain in people suffering from spinal cord injury. So, these effects are quite promising and show that marijuana can be used as an substitution for opioids like pregabalin, a drug that is frequently avoided due to negative side effects.

According to many experts, this is just another study that suggests that medical marijuana is great for healing chronic pain.

Dr. Kerr says that there is more evidence showing that medical use of marijuana is good compared to the evidence we have about pharmaceutical drugs. In most cases, marijuana has better side effect profile too. Dr. Kerr also points out that opioids are killing hundreds of people every year and there is no strong evidence that marijuana is linked to death.

In other words, the legalization of medical marijuana is good news for everyone except the pharmaceutical companies. The Big Pharma is trying to lobby in the Food and Drug Administration and stop the legalization of cannabis.

Insys Therapeutics say that they are against marijuana legalization because this herb is not good for the safety of the citizens of Arizona, especially when it comes to kids.

However, this company didn’t highlight the fact that they will suffer great financial loss if marijuana is legal. They also didn’t mention that their profit comes mostly from the spray that contains fentanyl.

We can confirm that most mainstream media often publish articles criticizing pharmaceutical companies for the prices they have on some products, but they never highlight the fact that they can do this thanks to the government.

So, instead of blaming the government for their inactivity, they are blaming the companies and even the users.

This is the right time for the American people to request marijuana legalization and stop supporting the Big Pharma and their dangerous drugs.
